Citizen Complaint Procedure
Commending Performance
If you wish to praise the actions of any NOPD employee, you can speak to the employee's supervisor. You can also write the Superintendent of Police at 715 South Broad St., New Orleans. La. 70119. When available we will add a link so that you may also e-mail your commendation. A copy of your letter of commendation will be given to the employee and the original will be place in the employee's personnel file.
Complaints
In order for the NOPD to effectively function in ridding the city of crime and disorder, it is essential that the public has confidence in the integrity of its law enforcement effort. To maintain this confidence, the Department of Police provides a means to investigate and adjudicate complaints made against its members by the community which it serves. Grievances will be thoroughly and impartially handled.

Office hours are 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. After business hours, weekends and holidays call the Public Integrity Bureau at (504)658-6800 . If you have an emergency after hours, call (504)821-2222 and request to speak to a ranking New Orleans Police Officer.
There are other avenues through which citizens may file complaints against employees of the NOPD. If you choose to avail yourself of one or more of the following, we ask that you also send a copy of your complaint to the Public Integrity Bureau.
