New Orleans, LA – New Orleans Police are asking for the public's help in locating and identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a car burglary. The offense occurred February 14, 2005, just before 1:00 a.m., at a home along the lakefront of New Orleans.
According to investigators, the victim’s wife heard a noise outside and alerted him. The victim armed himself and went outside. Once outside, the victim confronted a male who was burglarizing his vehicle. The victim told the suspect to stop at which time he fled to an awaiting Ford F-150 pick up truck that was occupied by a least one other person. As the suspect was fleeing to the truck he fired several gunshots in the victim’s direction. The victim, although armed, did not return fire. The suspects managed to escape. Security cameras from the victim’s home captured the incident on tape.
The victim indicated that a computer and other property was missing from his vehicle. Third District Detective Michael Stalbert is in charge of the investigation.
Currently, investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine the identity of the person(s) responsible, as well as a motive.
