New Orleans, LA – New Orleans Police have arrested one man, 21-year-old Derrick Weaver, and are searching for a second, 21-year-old Alex Patterson, in connection with a string of automobile burglaries in the Lakefront, Gentilly, Elysian Fields, UNO area. Over a period of six (6) weeks the department has experienced over 100 car break-ins in those areas.
According to investigators, detectives have been investigating the burglaries and on January 25, 2005, 21-year-old Derrick Weaver was arrested and booked with twenty-five counts of auto burglary, one count of auto theft and possession of stolen property. As a result of the continuing investigation, an arrest warrant has been issued for 21-year-old Alex Patterson for one count of auto theft. Investigators could book Weaver on additional counts as the investigation moves forward. In addition, as this case continues, Patterson may be linked to more offenses as well.
