In this plan we will make suggestions for greater efficiency in lighting, buildings, waste, water, power, the City fleet, and our procurement system. We start by looking at existing measures, quantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions of those measures, and then see how much farther we need to go to meet our target. We will then work with City departments and agencies to select new measures so that we can meet our goal. Once the Local Action Plan has been completed and approved by the City Council, we will begin implementation. We are guided through this entire process by materials and assistance from the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI).
