Mainframe Operations Office


Mainframe Operations maintains the city's mainframe computer system and provides physical security for the city's data. Mainframe Operations is a division of IT professionals consisting of systems analysts, application analysts, programmer analysts, database administrators, and IT consultants responsible for enhancing, supporting and maintaining the City of New Orleans systems and applications.

Mainframe Operations provides a secure 365 day per year / 24 hours per day environment for batch processing needs.  The processing facility can be accessed for batch job submission through a variety of online applications including Web-based access.


Networking Services Office

Network Services is responsible for the installation and support of the Wide Area Network, Local Area Network and Wireless infrastructure servicing over 100 locations. This includes location connectivity, electronics, premise wiring, and all the devices connected to the City’s network.

Backbone data networking (Wide Area Network) to link all City of New Orleans locations with each other for e-mail, web access, and unique departmental applications.


Systems Support Office


Systems Support is a division of IT professionals consisting of systems analysts, application analysts, developers and IT consultants responsible for enhancing, supporting and maintaining the City of New Orleans systems and applications.

Some of the mission critical applications include Buy Speed, Microsoft Dynamics Financial System, Criminal Justice Information Systems, and Human Resource Management Systems. Other duties include web content filtering and the associated firewall, virus, and filtering controls.

Help Desk Support Office

The Help Desk Support Team provides desktop, help desk, and network support for the City, and selected City agencies. We are responsible for distributing and maintaining desktop hardware and software. Our technical expertise is enhanced through forming close relationships with key partners and vendors to provide our customers with superior service. 

Our services focus on three main goals - increasing your productivity, reducing your costs through the use of standards, and improving end-user satisfaction. Our goal is to provide leadership in supporting and facilitating the effective use of technology as an everyday tool. Cellular/wireless/PCS/Blackberry/Pager services for the City of New Orleans mobile employees.

The Help Desk will provide a single contact point for all users for the City of New Orleans to direct questions and report problems regarding supported software and hardware. In response, the Help Desk will resolve the issue and attempt to help the user maximize their use of applications or equipment, or distribute the call to the appropriate staff. The Help Desk will assist in the notification of trends and situations to the City of New Orleans to maintain high levels of service to the user community.


Web Services Office

The Web Services office is responsible for the strategic planning, design, development, implementation, coordination and maintenance of the City of New Orleans website.

Responsibilities of the web services office :

  • Ensure web sites are designed around usability and accessibility
  • Support and train departments to manage and deploy content in a timely manner
  • Manage link integrity
  • Develop secure and easy to use online services for payments, registrations, licensing and permit applications, purchases, Kiosk, searches, and more.

 


GIS Office

The Geospatial Information System (GIS) Office provides maps and data services to the departments and constituents of the City of New Orleans.  The GIS Office delivers focused and sustainable geographic information, which informs optimal leadership practice, policy formation and operational decision making. 

The Office is responsible for creation and maintenance of the city’s mapping database, and maintenance of housing unit, parcel data, street and utility, and district information.  GIS information is maintained in four perspectives - land records, infrastructure, public safety, and health & human services – that can be used in combinations to support operations and decision support requirements.
