The Public Affairs Division also handles Fire Education Programs, important decisions of those which will impact many people and those that could cause unnecessary, serious, negative consequences.
Through our Public education and Public Information System, by means of Community outreach programming we feel we can mitigate these negative unnecessary consequences by applying and disseminating vital life saving information and knowledge. The Fire Education section along with the Orleans Parish School Board and the Archdiocese of New Orleans teamed up to bring the Nationally known "Learn Not to Burn" Program to New Orleans. The Fire Education officers deliver these programs to PreK-3rd grade students.
The fire Education Department has obtained National Recognition by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for lives saved in the community due to the efforts in fire safety education. Fire Education also delivers Fire Safety Programs to facilities such as: Churches, Summer Camps, Health Care Facilities, Government Agencies, Senior Citizen Groups, Day Care/Head Start Facilities and Housing Developments.
