Apparatus Demonstrations
- a NOFD unit provides children the chance to meet actual firefighters and view fire apparatuses at the same time
- learn the name and use of equipment
- allow children to flow water from booster water tank
- demonstrate warning devices (lights, siren, air horn) and explain what the responses of civilians should be

Smoke Detectors
- Smoke detector installation program - Public Affairs purchases smoke Detectors from donations to the Friends of the New Orleans Fire Department and coordinates the efforts with Suppression to have them installed for needy citizens. For a smoke detector call (504) 658-4714.
Complaints The New Orleans Fire Department in an effort to serve the citizens of New Orleans offers other community relation services. Citizen complaints are handled through the Public Affairs Division.
Procedures are:
- report complaints by dialing (504) 658-4713
- give name, contact number and address
- date of complaint
- nature of complaint
- a written document should be addressed to the New Orleans Fire Department Public Affairs Division @ 317 Decatur St. New Orleans, La. 70130
Be sure to include the complaint takers name.
