Chief Martin manages the Administration, Communications, Prevention & Investigation, Public Affairs/Education and Training Divisions

This division is like the heart of the Fire Department in that all activities, functions, etc. are coordinated here. All requests including, but not limited to, personnel, budget (operating & capital), payroll, data processing and supply are also coordinated in this division. Other functions of this division include request for the purchase and repair of safety and other vehicles, office equipment and supplies for the department.

The purchase of Firefighter clothing, supplies, equipment (safety) is another responsibility of this division. The coordination of personnel (departmental) activities are also prepared by Administration. This division also acts as liaison for the department in legal matters.

HISTORICAL
NOTE: Since 1891, the New Orleans Fire Department has been a paid, professional fire protection emergency services organization.   Prior to that year it existed as a volunteer firefighting organization dating back to the 1700's.
