WANTED
The Juvenile Intake Unit addresses juvenile crime and methods of diverting children from the Juvenile Justice System. It shall be the policy of this department to aggressively investigate any incident involving a child or minor; whether the child or minor is the victim of a crime, or the perpetrator of a criminal offense.
The Juvenile Intake Unit shall consist of diverting juveniles from delinquency by participating in alternative programs offered through local, state, and federal programs.

Juveniles seven (7) and not older than seventeen (17) must be enrolled in school (public or private). Juveniles who are not in school during the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., are in violation of the City Truancy Ordinance (mandatory school attendance) will be picked-up by New Orleans Police and transported to the truancy center. Seventeen year olds will be issued a summons and returned to their school. If a juvenile is picked-up for truancy three times within a calendar year, the parent will receive a summons to municipal court, fined a fee of $ 500.00 dollars, and 20 hours of community service.

Note: After the curfew center close the juveniles will be transported the Juvenile Division.
Juveniles ten (10) to sixteen (16) who are outside after curfew hours are in violation of the City Curfew Ordinance. Juveniles will be taken into custody by New Orleans Police and transported to the curfew center. Parents will be notified and must pick-up their child from the center within an hour of notification. If a juvenile is picked-up for curfew three times within a calendar year, the parent will receive a summons to municipal court, fined a fee of $ 500.00 dollars, and 20 hours of community service.

Parent Monitoring Program, PMP
Mission Statement for the PMP
The mission of the Parent Monitoring Program, PMP, which is a juvenile family counseling intervention, is to provide juvenile offenders, ages 6-17 years, and their families an opportunity to improve their overall performance while at the same time reducing the rate of repeat offenders. The PMP is a comprehensive family counseling intervention program which was designed to reduce the rate of repeat offenders with juvenile delinquents in Orleans Parish. The intervention models main focus is on preventing and reducing juvenile delinquency. The PMP is concerned with the recidivism rates for those juveniles who have successfully completed the family counseling intervention. The PMP believes that early intervention is the key.
