New Orleans, LA – New Orleans Police have cleared a murder case involving the shooting death of 46-year-old store owner Chieu Do, which occurred July 12, 2005, just after 1:30 p.m., at 3700 Magazine Street, Jennie’s Grocery Store.
According to investigators, an unknown male, armed with a weapon, entered the business and began shouting obscenities at the clerk. The suspect then fired through a partition that separates the clerk from customers, striking the victim, who collapsed. The perpetrator fled the scene on foot. The victim, the businesses’ owner, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Following the crime, tips were received through the CRIMESTOPPERS hotline identifying a suspect by the first name of “Brandon” as the person responsible for the shooting. As the case progressed, an investigation by Second District Homicide Detective Erbin Bush revealed that the suspect’s name was Brandon Williams, 21, of New Orleans. Williams was positively identified via photographic line-up as the gunman who fatally shot the victim. Det.
