Alberta Pate
DHND Director

Alberta Pate came out of retirement to work with the Nagin Administration.  She has over 20 years of experience in housing and neighborhood development, including 17 years with Fannie Mae, the nation’s largest source of financing for home mortgages.

During her tenure as Director of Fannie Mae’s New Orleans Partnership Office, Alberta created and implemented “HouseNewOrleans”, a five-year, $530,000,000 investment plan to assist 8,000 low- and moderate-income families in the City of New Orleans.  The plan was completed eleven months ahead of schedule, exceeded the goal by $41,000,000 and assisted 1,300 additional families.  The number of first-time homebuyers in New Orleans increased by 131%.

Alberta earned a bachelor of business administration in Finance from Dallas Baptist University, and earned a master of business administration (MBA) from Tulane University in 1997.
