Program DescriptionThe primary goal of the Health Center is to provide a holistic approach to health care, addressing all high risk behaviors, family concerns and environmental factors which may have a negative impact on the students' physical and psychological well-being. The Health Center's multi-disciplinary staff consists of a director, pediatricians, a nurse practitioner, a public health nurse, a social worker, and a medical attendant. The center staff provides a broad range of primary health care, preventative and supportive services to address those needs in complete confidence.
We are Health Partners in the SchoolMcDonogh 35 School students have a Comprehensive Health Center of their own. The clinic is located on the first floor of the school and open Monday thru Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. When school is out, 24-hour medical coverage is provided to the students by Tulane University Medical Center Pediatrics Department. All services are free and all information is confidential.

- Referrals for serious health problems follow-up care
The students must obtain written permission from parents to obtain medical services. The services offered are exactly what a patient would receive if he/she visited a private practice office. Also, services such as health counseling and adolescents who suffer with asthma may receive aerosol treatments acutely in the Health Center. Common diseases treated are Sexually Transmitted Disease, URI (Upper Respiratory Infection) symptoms, fever, rash, abdominal pain, chest pain, menstrual irregularities and traumatic injuries.
