If you have special health care or transportation needs, you need to make extra efforts to get ready for hurricane season. Hurricane season officially begins 1 June and continues until 30 November.
It is critical that you begin now to make your evacuation plans, prepare an emergency kit and learn evacuation routes. This should be done well in advance.
Operators answering the phones at 3-1-1 and 1-800-981-NOLA (TTY) are prepared to assist you in registering for transportation and special assistance now, before hurricane season begins.
Persons using the City Assisted Evacuation Plan (CAEP) should register in advance. Additionally, they should study the CAEP maps to know where the nearest RTA bus pick up location is located. This service is for persons who do not have their own transportation in the event of an evacuation order.
