Making Your Emergency Evacuation Plans

Emergency Evacuation Plans

Make plans for keeping in touch with friends and family.

Choose a friend or relative who resides out of state and make sure family members know that persons phone number. You can call that number to let friends and family members know where you are.

Make plans for your pets and livestock. Include a leash and other supplies for your pet in your emergency preparedness kit.

When a tropical storm or hurricane appears in the Gulf of Mexico, fill your gas tank and keep monitoring your local TV and radio as the storm moves in.

When local officials call for a mandatory evacuation, top off your gas tank before you leave.

For more information, contact the New Orleans Public Information center by dialing 3-1-1 or 1-877-286-6431. For TTY service dial 1-800-981-NOLA (6652)
