Staying Home

If you chose to stay at home here are some useful tips to help you survive the storm. Stay indoors

Do not use the telephone except for emergencies

Stay away from windows and glass doors

Keep televisions tuned to local news or check your local internet site

Remain calm

Fill water containers (sterilize bathtubs) with a week's supply of water

If the center or "eye" of the storm passes directly over, there will be a lull in the wind lasting from a few minutes to over half an hour. Stay in a safe place. Make emergency repairs during the lull if necessary, but remember the wind will return suddenly from the opposite directions, frequently with even greater force.

Have a back up plan to escape from flooding and wind damage.
