The Executive Counsel serves as the Mayor's senior policy aide.
The mission of the Executive Counsel team is to support the Mayor with policy research and analysis, and to provide staff continuity across a range of high priority issues.
To accomplish this mission, the Executive Counsel team is organized as a technically adept and highly proactive policy and management analysis unit within the Mayor's Executive Office. The team implements and monitors complex interdepartmental initiatives; researches best practice; drafts analytical memos, letters and policy documents; and participates across City government in strategic, cross-departmental initiatives.
The staff produce policy research, analysis and synthesis; generate process, management and legal improvement recommendations; create funding, budgeting, contracting and change management status reports; and draft strategic communications pieces.
While the Mayor's goals and agenda items represent the team's top priorities, the staff also have strong relationships throughout the rest of City Hall, and work on a daily basis in support of IGR, Communications, Recovery, Law, and the CAO's budget, finance and operational departments - in short, every area of the Administration.
