Citizens for a Cleaner New Orleans Campaign

Join Mayor C. Ray Nagin and other local citizens in a volunteer effort aimed at keeping New Orleans clean.

Everyone is welcome to participate in this cleanup campaign. Local churches, civic groups and other community organizations are assembling teams of least 30 volunteers who can commit to working one day for three hours. Each volunteer group will be divided into clean up crews with 15 volunteers, who will be assigned an area that is four blocks long and two blocks wide.

Volunteers will bring filled trash bags to a designated spot and the Sanitation Department will collect them each morning of the clean up effort. The New Orleans Hornets basketball team is providing gloves for the clean up effort, and Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits is providing trash bags and T-shirts.

Individuals and groups who want to participate in the Citizens for a Cleaner New Orleans effort can contact Tenaj Jones at (504) 658-4055.
