Yolanda Wilson
Director of Planning / HR & Finance

Yolanda Wilson was appointed to the position of New Orleans EMS Planning Director in 2006. Ms. Wilson oversees the planning and delineation of new policy and procedures, which include standard operating procedures as well as emergency operations procedures. Additional duties as the Planning Director include overseeing New Orleans EMS Liaison personnel in the Departments of Homeland Security and Emergency OperationsCenter as well as oversees EMS Human Resources, Finance and Orleans Parish EMT permitting.

In 1996, she received the City of New Orleans’ Paramedic of the Year Award. Most recently, she obtained recognition from National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians for 20 consecutive years of service.

Ms. Wilson’s interest in becoming an Emergency Medical Technician blossomed while she was working at Plaquemines Parish General Hospital in the Nursing Department. She earned her EMT-Basic certification in 1987 and relocated to New Orleans for employment. After earning her EMT-Intermediate certification in 1989, Ms. Wilson volunteered through the Volunteer in Government of Responsibility (V.I.G.O.R.) program with New Orleans EMS and was then employed by the City of New Orleans on March 15, 1989.

Ms. Wilson was raised in Buras, Louisiana. After graduating from Buras High School in 1981, she completed her studies in clerical/accounting in 1984. She became an EMT- Paramedic in 1990. In 1999, she obtained an Associates Degree in Computer Engineering and promoted to the position of Emergency Medical Coordinator, Assistant (Supervisor) in 1999.
