BOOMING BUSINESS
Felipes Taqueria

With its vibrant hues, festive atmosphere, and mouth watering selection of fresh Mexican food, Felipe’s Taqueria is adding some extra spice to the French Quarter and big kick to our New Orleans economy. Serving Uptown at 6215 S. Miro and the French Quarter at 301 N. Peters St, this Boston original is quickly becoming a New Orleans favorite.

Walking into Felipe’s on N. Peters, the afternoon sun pours into the restaurant, sprinkling light on the autumn yellows, forest greens, and terracotta reds that line the walls. The air is a delicious swirl of aromas and the room, abuzz with friendly chatter and sounds of the French Quarter. In the middle of it all, representing Felipe’s New Orleans co-owners Tom Brush of Boston and Elio Todaro of New Orleans, is Robert Stumm.

In a trip to Boston in 2005, the owners visited the Felipe’s in Harvard Square and almost immediately thought of expanding Felipe’s to New Orleans. “The quality of life in New Orleans far outweighs any monetary incentive that you might be able to find elsewhere”, said Stumm. Ever since Felipe’s was introduced to New Orleans in November 2006, the Uptown and French Quarter communities have wholeheartedly embraced the taqueria and the diversity it’s added to the New Orleans dining scene.

Stumm is truly optimistic about the prospect of recovery in New Orleans. “No other city in the U.S has neighborhoods and climate of New Orleans”, said Stumm. “New Orleans and our economy can only go up”. Felipe’s in New Orleans has a simple message: Keep it unique, authentic, affordable, and, fun. With two locations and potentially more to come in the Metro area, this booming business one we hope to see for years to come.
