WHAT: The City of New Orleans Health Department along with the McDonogh #35 School Health Clinic will host a dedication ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new school based health clinic located on the grounds of the McDonogh #35 Senior High School.
WHO: Dr. Kevin Stephens, Director of the City of New Orleans Health Department along with Dr. Evangeline Franklin, and Philip White, Principal of McDonogh #35 High School
The health clinic will offer services for McDonogh #35 students that include basic first aid along with mental health care, group counseling, sports and annual physicals, hearing and vision screening, routine lab testing, treatment for minor illnesses and injuries, and management for chronic illnesses. The clinic will also offer follow-up appointments for more complex problems and emergencies, health education, nutrition counseling and youth development. Immunizations will be offered during the summer months. This is the only school based clinic opened for students throughout the year.
The health clinic was established to improve the overall health of students in the City of New Orleans and to encourage healthy choices while empowering students with the knowledge of choosing a health lifestyle.
