Fight Blight Take advantage of several new programs designed by the City Attorney’s Housing Law Unit, New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) and the Division of Housing and Neighborhood Development (DHND) to aid citizens in the acquisition and rehabilitation of abandoned and blighted properties throughout New Orleans.

| Abandoned & Adjudicated |

Abandoned Property is property which has been “adjudicated” or sold to the City for non-payment of taxes. The tax deed has been recorded at least 18 months for sales and 3 years for donations. It is also “vacant or not lawfully occupied,” open to vagrants, inadequately secured or endangering public safety, health or welfare. | Blighted Property |
|
Blighted Property must be declared “blighted” by an administrative adjudication hearing officer. Vacant, uninhabitable or hazardous, “public nuisance”, vermin infested or lacking in facilities required by City Code.
